Formed in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2003, Nineball has spent over two decades mastering the art of musical shape-shifting. The band’s origin story reads like a scouting mission: founder Marty Lucas, working as a veteran sound engineer at the legendary Phoenix venue Joe’s Grotto, spent years watching local acts from behind the mixing board. Discerning the absolute "cream of the crop" from the original music scene, he handpicked a powerhouse lineup capable of executing an ambitious vision—playing everything, and playing it perfectly.
That vision is anchored by a formidable, multi-vocal lineup featuring Natalie Lucas (lead vocals), David Martinez (guitar/vocals), Marty Lucas (guitar/vocals), Jeff Barbaree (bass/vocals), and Ryan Eibling (drums/vocals). Having five lead vocalists allows Nineball to boast the widest, most fearless repertoire of any band in the Southwest. On any given night, the band effortlessly leaps across decades and genres, pivoting seamlessly from the anthemic pop-rock of Third Eye Blind and the dramatic synth-pop of Chappell Roan to the soaring country harmonies of Little Big Town and the pristine drum fills of Phil Collins.
Nineball operates on a simple, ego-free philosophy: the audience always comes first. Whether they are performing an intimate acoustic set for 10 people or headlining a festival stage for 10,000, they bring the exact same explosive energy, professional precision, and crowd-pleasing charisma. (Though they do admit that counting the applause is slightly easier in the smaller rooms). For more than twenty years, Nineball has proven that you don't need to stay in one lane when you own the whole highway.
